The machine that answers at 11:47pm (no-nonsense AI)

What an AI switchboard really does for a local business — and what it should never do.

The machine that answers at 11:47pm (no-nonsense AI)

It's 11:47pm on a Sunday. Someone has a toothache, broken glasses or a question about your price. Your business is asleep; so is your competition. The difference is what happens to that message: it goes cold until Monday (and maybe gets lost), or it gets an answer on the spot.

What it does do

  • Answers with YOUR information — real hours, prices and services — the ones you gave it, not the internet's generic ones.

  • Proposes appointments inside your diary — without touching your rest or inventing slots.

  • Replies in Spanish, Catalan or English — depending on who writes — the neighbour and the tourist, both well served.

  • Leaves you the summary on WhatsApp — in the morning you scan a list, you don't wrestle with an inbox.

The repeated questions —are you open Saturdays, where do I park, how much is a cleaning— are a huge share of any local business's messages. Having a machine resolve them instantly isn't science fiction: it's the most boring and most profitable use case of today's AI.

What it should never do

the workshop rules

  1. Answers only what you have confirmed — your real catalogue — no more, no less.

  2. Clearly flags when something leaves its ground — instead of covering it up or improvising.

  3. Passes you the baton — and you decide. No "revolutionary artificial intelligence" theatre: a night-shift employee that does three things well and doesn't touch the rest.
